Thank you for the list of possible deaths heatherjulie, as usual, it's more complicated.

Working backwards, my grandfather Wilfred Percy Jones married Mary Alice Fielden, spinster, aged 28 in 1921 at Birch-in-Rusholme, Manchester. her father is given as Albert Fielden deceased.

Previous to this, I also found Mary living with her mother as follows

and Mary's birth:

1892 FIELDEN Mary Alice / Oldham Above Town / Oldham / Mothers name= MURRAY OAT/138/84

This apart, my grandfather remarried as a Widower in 1936, so the death of Mary Alice Jones should be between 1921 and 1936, but where exactly I don't know, Manchester and it's vicinities?

I can neither find the death of her mother, Julia Fielden or Fielding for any clues about Mary, just in case she didn't die between those years?

Do you have details of the 1936 marriage?  It is possible he was still living in the same house he lived in with Mary Alice - or at least in the same neighbourhood, or used the same church.

Did Mary Alice have any children? If you knew when and where they were baptised that might help.

Hi Milly,

To answer your question the other way round, I don't know where my grandfather lived with Mary Alice, it might have been Manchester but it could also have been Dukinfield, Cheshire or even Mossley, which borders on West Yorkshire, according to some school admission records of my father.

I do have the latter 1936 marriage but by then he was living near Stockport, as my grandfather was a commercial traveller and it seemed also travelled in where he lived.

I would like to find out what happened to Mary Alice Jones, and don't know whether to exhaust deaths first, and if I find nothing then try marriages, or something else, but exactly what I don't know?

Greenacres Cemetery Oldham
this would give a birth year of 1892

She is the only person in the grave.

No slight felt, I just don't know about Mary either way, but the burial is interesting as Mary was born Oldham.

The tiniest piece of corroborative evidence would be good though, in which you'd think her mothers name of Julia would help no end, yet doesn't seem to?

Do you know what children Wilfred and Mary Alice had? That would help narrow things down a bit.

Have you seen this at familysearch.org?   Is this your Wilfred and Mary Alice?  Or did he marry another Mary? It coud be another Wilfred and Mary of course.
