Pickford death
« on: Saturday 25 August 12 08:40 BST (UK) »
Hi needing help to find the death of Louise/Louisa (records have both) Pickford nee Goulding.  She was born in England 1874 and married 1906 in England.  She immigrated to Canada in the 30s with a son who died 1936.  He is buried in Toronto.  We would love to find when she died and where she is buried.  She last sent a letter to her grandson in the early 1950s so died after 1950.  However after a family tiff she has had no contact with family in England.  This is my step fathers grandmother and he is the only grandchild and it would mean a lot to be able to find her.  Hoping some kind soul will help.  thanks in advance from NZ.  Bigcous

She and son Arthur first arrived on the Montnairn Aug 25, 1925 with her Canadian contact a brother-in-law, Rev. R.W. Pickford of Brighton Ontario.
She and son Peter returned to Canada on the Cairnross arriving Aug 24, 1933 giving an address of 752 Logan Ave. Toronto.
Death of son Arthur Gerald Peter was reported by Rev. F.E. Powell 752 Logan Ave. (relationship friend).  This was also Arthur's address at his time of death in 1936.  His burial was in St. John's Cemetery Toronto.

The Toronto Library will do Toronto directory lookups for you by email through their Ask A Librarian service.  If Louisa was working she would be listed in the directory and you could narrow down her year of death by when she disappears from the directories.  If she was working in the household of Rev. Powell I don't think she would be listed in the directories.

is an excellent source to look for obituaries and it is cost effective.  A brief search shows that there are possibilities but not an overwhelming number to look through.

St. Johns Cemetery has also been indexed but is not available online.

Louise Pickford was a witness to the marriage of Robert Bruce Hart to Muriel Clayton in 1925.  Louise's address was 752 Logan Ave. as was the person who officiated at the ceremony - a ? ? Powell.  Unless Louise was somehow related to Mr. Powell one could assume that her Reverend brother-in-law might have secured her a position with another clergyman when she emigrated.
