Hello.... :)

The marriage details you have from Freereg only imply he was resident at Sookholme at the time of his marriage and Sookholme is in the parish of Warsop, Nottinghamshire = http://www.warsopparishchurch.org.uk/sookholmehistory.php

NFHS coverage for Warsop only starts in 1743 (Baptisms = 1743 to 1900), so it could be a possibility that is where he was born but some of those early entries are really hard to decipher and the baptisms commence in 1539.

It might be a good idea to get a copy of the licence

Carol

How would I get a copy of the license?

Kind regards,

Curtis

Hi Carol,

No problem. Thank you for replying. Do you know if the license would show parents names?

Regards,

Curtis.

I contacted them and they confirmed they have a copy of the license. I have now paid for the license and it is going to be delivered. They did tell me that no parents are listed but hopefully the full license may have useful information.

I've been really lucky with a licence I received this week.  Not only did it name the father, but also named the mother.  My ancestor was only 18 when she married and her father is named.  The mother also states on oath that he was the natural and lawful father.

A real bonus

Hopefully there is useful information on it's way. It is a shame that they said there are no parents listed.
