George and Mary Brown NYC in 1920
« on: Wednesday 29 August 12 11:23 BST (UK) »
I have been looking through Ancestry's US census for George Bown, b.1875 Wales, arrived US 1894, steward and married to Mary Brown b1877 Irish Free State, arrived 1902 and I think I have found them in 1930 and 40 but for the life of me I cannot find then in 1910 or 20.

I do know that George went to the UK in Jun 1920 but I thought the census was in Jan?  Is this right?

Hi Alan

It may help if you could post full details of the 2 census' you do have - the first question I had is, who else is with them in 1930/40 who should have been with them in 1920, 1910  - ie: children? What part of NYC were they in?

Also the trip back to UK in Jun 1920 - did he leave the US and arrive in the UK in the same month of June? have you found him returning to the US. Did he travel alone?

Cheers

They lived in the Bronx, NYC.  They have no children.  George returns to the UK alone in Jun and returns in Sep 20.

He puts in a passport application on 3 Jun 20 and travels to Wales arriving on 21 Jun. His passport application says he lived in NYC and Boston since arriving in the US in 1894.
