Alice Farrell, a domestic from Higginstown
« on: Monday 03 September 12 16:39 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody could help me. My Grandmother was a Mary Farrell born in December 1945 to Alice Farrell who was a domestic from Higginstown, according to Mary's birth certificate. Mary's Godparents are recorded as being a Patrick and Bridget Farrell, so I am assuming that Patrick was Alice's brother. Other than that I know nothing about Alice or her parents and would absolutley love some help in trying to find them!
Thanks
Kerry

Hi there Kerry

As the dates you are talking about are still fairly recent you will need to be careful as to what you post.

Are you aware if Alice ever went on to marry someone ?

Tara

Hi there,

I found an Alice and Patrick Farrell siblings but they may be a bit too young

farrell siblings kilkenny

Then again the 'Patrick and Bridget' Godparents could have been Alice's parents !

BUT

In 1923 a James Farrell and Mary Loughlin are on the same page of marriages

james farrell and mary loughlin marriage references

It would cost 4 euro to order this cert - It's a MAJOR long shot I know but considering the lack of info that you have you MAY get some leads from it - if there was a match to Alice's location at the time of her giving birth to Mary it would be super.

Bear in mind tho that Alice MAY not have given her actual home address given the nature of her circumstances.

Tara

Wow thankyou so much!
I've just noticed on Mary's birth certificate that it states that Bridget is her aunt and that she was born at 14 south parade in waterford. So it could be that mary and james are her parents?

Hiya Kerry

It's always going to be super hard to find records when you are dealing with a child 'born our of wedlock'

and you also have going against you the fact that the people that you are dealing with were born after the 1901 / 1911 Irish Census so you can't really get any leads there.

There are a few other Alice Farrell's but I thought that the one that I referenced seemed to be the best starting point, if as I said earlier you fancy a 4 euro gamble.

Best Of Luck

Tara
