I am looking for the baptismal record of Mary Josephine McFadden, born 25 August 1811, Chichester, Sussex.  If you can be of any help on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying.  I don't have baptism records for Chichester itself, but I've checked the records that I do have access to (Cuckfield, Ardingly, Cowfold & Glynde) and can confirm that Mary wans't baptised in any of these places before the end of 1812.

Not much help I'm afraid, but at least it's a postive negative....

I would be interested in any licence information on the marriage of Francis Philip Bedingfeld & Mary Delecia Rose at Hastings on 15th March 1815. I am not sure of this would fall under Lewes or Chichester.

Thanks

Hi Edward

Looks like it must be Chichester - I can't find anything in my Lewes register, & I'm afraid my Chichester records end in 1730. :(

Do you know if these books are available online anywhere?

The Sussex Family History Society have a lot of church records available for members.   It is a reasonable subscription too.
Which place are you looking for?    I have some of the books.   You can buy recent editions too.

Hi there

Thanks for that, I will see if I can find the website. I'm looking to check some christenings, marriages and burials in Worth and Ifield from the mid 16th century to late 17th and some in Worth and East Grinstead in the early 18th century. I'd also like to look for some information in wills and possible ipms. A lot of my ancestors are from Sussex and so I'm keen to find out as much from these sources as I can.

Matt
