Albert Blennerhassett Johnston
« on: Saturday 08 September 12 05:51 BST (UK) »
Good morning from France !
I am looking for one of my relations, the above ABJ. Born in 1888 in Stranorlar,Co Donegal, Ireland, he died, aged 66, in July 1954 and his funeral was in the Parish Church, Newent.  I don't know where he was buried ...
Albert was Paymaster Captain in the Royal Navy and Accountant officer at the anti-submarine school in Portland, Dorset.  He retired in 1938.
I am also looking for the date of his marriage to Ester Luttrell Bailey - they had a daughter , Pamela, who apparently became a nun.  I can't find the marriage nor the birth of Pamela.
I don't know where to start looking for Pamela !
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Liz,
Cognac, France

Thank you very Helina for your help.

I wonder if anyone has done the transcriptions of the headstones in the graveyard in Newent ?

best regards, Liz

Hi Liz,
I contacted townclerk [at] newenttowncouncil.gov.uk and received the following reply:-
"I can confirm that Albert JOHNSTON is indeed buried in Newent Cemetery. He is buried with Esther JOHNSTON - I assume his wife and they are buried in Grave B57".

I have started working on these profiles in Geni and although I haven't yet finished with them, have documented the info I've managed to garner so far. (Albert's overview tab has quite a few links you may want to look at, especially the Wikitree one if you want his ancestors.)
https://www.geni.com/people/Albert-Johnston/6000000051403426821
https://www.geni.com/people/Esther-Johnston/6000000038599235935
https://www.geni.com/people/Pamela-Joy-Johnston-Sister-Clare/6000000051410418861

I've sent off a few queries and hope to build these up in coming days or weeks, but thought that I may as well get the links posted now.

It looks as if that line died out pretty much completely; I don't think that Esther's twin sister or other sister had children either.

[Edit to add: I have been in touch with one of the sisters from the Falkirk Carmelite monastery where Pamela was a nun, and found out that she died only a few months ago, in August.]

Sure, no rush. I'll PM you.

You should be able to look at those links I posted as public profiles on Geni (it just inhibits you from navigating around and doing stuff you can do as a member; alternatively, you can become a free member if you wish and look at the whole family tree).

Happy Christmas!  :)
