I cannot find a census record for this family for 1861, did they go overseas??

In 1870 mother Christiana marries widower Henry Nethersole, and after Henry dies in 1872 the children have his surname added to theirs on 1881 census.

When daughter Christina marries in 1892 she states that Frank Wright Enderby is her father.

Surprisingly there does not appear to be a Frank Wright Enderby, and I have been unable to find a Frank Wright who fits the bill.

Olga Nethersole became an actress and campaigner, managed by her brother Louis.  In a news cutting she states her mother was 'of Spanish descent' .  Christiana's mother was called Jane.

Can a fresh brain and pair of eyes find Frank, the family in 1861, and longshot, the reason Christiana was charged with larceny??

I did a search on the British Newspaper Archive - I don't have a subscription, but the free search produced this extract - you'd need credits to read the full article.

Lincolnshire Chronicle, Fri 07 Apr 1843  '....Christiana Enderby 13 stood charged with stealing 9 yards of cotton lace from Mrs Casson of Boston....'  Under the free search the extract was under a heading Ecclesiastical Intelligence.

Good luck with the rest of the search

Thank you garstonite for your help and interest.

I don't believe there was a mother of Spanish descent, it was a quote from a news article by Olga Enderby Nethersole.

I have Samuel Enderby with wife Jane, guessed her surname was Bryant, on census 1841 to 1861.  Jane death 1865 all Boston.  Samuel dies 1876.

There is another son, last one Valentine Johnston Enderby who lives next door to Christiana in London ( he marries twice, second time to sister of chap who founded Gamages store in Holborn).

Yes Christiana had 4 children, as I mentioned, her first Christina stated that Frank Wright Enderby was her father on her marriage.  Leonora's birth certificate states the same father.

Cannot find a marriage for Christiana to a Frank Wright or Frank Wright Enderby, so can only presume they are out of wedlock, no baptismal records either.

Children's names are out of the ordinary...

Yes marriage to Henry Nethersole on freeBMD, March 1870, Kensington, 1a, 12.  Just going to check when the first Mrs Nethersole died, just in case Henry was Frank Wright.

Christiana is living in a 'smart' area of London, don't think her father paid for this

Christiana's marriage in 1870 says she is a spinster.
