Thanks all so far, I hadn't spotted William and Mary's marriage, also Christopher's middle name was Edward, so that is him in 1910. Can't find him in the 1911 census though.

Cheers

that William & Mary married two years according to the census return - so a  slightly better fit for that marriage.

Thanks
Yes that looks good, just looking at the 1901 census now that I have  a better idea of Williams age

Cheers

Hi there,

There appears to be only one good match for William on the 1901 Census - still early days as to whether this is the correct one or not but I shall post the finds incase you get paperwork to back it up !

william heffernan 1901 Irish Census

There appears to be a big age gap between this William and his siblings tho - so maybe a second marriage for the father ???

This is a baptism for the brother Henry

henry heffernan

This is a baptism for the brother Patrick

patrick heffernan

You will most likely need tho some of the paperwork that Shane has reference to see if it all tally's up

Thanks All
Interestingly my Mom-in-Law remembers that William was working in London as a restaurant porter after the war, which ties up (but doesn't prove!) with the profession on the 1901 census. Big gap there..

Cheers

Hi my name is Paula Madin and my father is Michael Christopher Heffernan son to Christopher Heffernan married to Kathleen Salmon living in Dublin. His father was William Heffernan married to Mary Watson whom had Michael, William, James and  Marie (May).  From what I know Christopher was in the British Army for any years and moved to London after Mary his wife died soon after giving birth to their daughter Marie.  The boys where put into the Artane Boys Home while their baby sister Marie (May) was brought up by her mothers sister.  From what I know James went to Birmingham in England where he married Josephine Tuner.  I don’t have any more information on Michael, William or Marie.  Would love to know lots more if you can help.

Hi Paula,
As with your other post, this thread is also an old one so you are dependent on their still receiving emails from Rootschat.
I can see a marriage for James J C Heffernan and Josephine Turner in 1943, Birmingham and also a death for James Joseph Heffernan in 1984, Birmingham. The date of birth matches that of the birth of your James.

You can look for any children to James and Josephine in the indexes here https://www.freebmd.org.uk/
