Found Cave Family Bible
« on: Sunday 16 September 12 07:14 BST (UK) »
Hi all!!
Through my ancestry research and contacting newly discovered relatives, I have located a Family Bible with my second cousin. He is quite amiable to me going to look at it, and I have told him I will, in return furnish him with copies of documents I have discovered about the family.
This has been 7 years in the making!
I have been hesitant until now to arrange the visit, don't know why, but after reading everyone's stories I am newly enthused!!! ;)
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris

I met with a long lost cousin a few years ago after she had placed an advert in my local paper looking for me & my siblings.  Like you I was very hesitant about meeting.  I'm so glad with did meet as we got on really well and swapped photos & stories etc.  My father died when I was small so she was able to tell me lots of information about him I didn't know

Good Luck

Hi Chrissie,
I'm related to Susannah Darby, Charles Cave's wife, so have been doing a bit of reading on them of late. Your posts pop up everywhere when one is googling for them! Have you ever had any luck finding out what happened to John Rendall Cave after 1930? He's a bit of a loose end in my research, and I must admit given his chequered career I'm curious!
Regards,
Jane Sykes

Hello Jane,
Just going back over some entries....John Rendall Cave...hmmmm!
He started out in my mind as being a benevolent good looking bloke who captured my actress grandmother's heart but descended fast when my research found him to be a "blaggard". In the 1930's he was still working at Port Adelaide as a merchant, was prosecuted through the courts twice at least for failing to provide for his family as per maintenance orders.    ???
He had a several women, the last of whom ran the Royal Admiral Hotel at Port Adelaide and farmed pigs.  He died at the hotel in 1957. His son, John George visited him there prior to his death after no contact at all for many years.
