Weston Super Mare childrens homes Rogers
« on: Friday 27 May 05 19:54 BST (UK) »
Is there any way I can find out which childrens homes my grandfather and his siblings grew up in?  I have drawn a blank with The George Muller Foundation and don't know where to look next.  Any suggestions?

From the 1901 census I believe the family were together as follows

Thomas Rogers (36 yrs) Elizabeth Rogers (34).  My gf Percy Harold (5 yrs), Herbert W (4 yrs) and Alice Rose (2 yrs) were living in Warwick.
Jack was born in 1905 and Marie Elizabeth Lucy in 1907.  I don't know what happened to the parents yet.

Hi,

You could try Barnardo's, I believe they kept records of all their children's homes.  They may be able to give you information on other societies to try.

Just to clarify, Mullers didn't have any homes apart from Ashley Down, Bristol, until after 1949.  Sometime between 1949 and 1958, we purchased three large houses in Weston-super-Mare to part of the "scattered homes", with Ashley Down being sold to the LEA in 1958.

I'm aware of that, but the OP may still be looking in and, in any case, others may find the information useful
