Hi Alberbury

Lots of George Youngs about in the timeframe you are looking for (1803-6)

What happened to your George Young ? Have you checked the 1871 census ? There is a George Young widower and a printer in the workhouse aged 72 years and born in the City of London c1799. Is this him do you think ?

Then there is this baptism at St Dunstan in the West in the City of London

George Young bapt. 13 Jan 1799 son of Richard and Susanna.

Just re-reading this thread and noted the address 'York Street' where George was in 1841 and the Gazette clipping. Richard Young left a PCC Will (free to look at on the NA at the minute) - left his business to 'HIS SON GEORGE' - mentions 'York Street'

Richard Young was living in Enfield at Chase Side (address mentioned in the Will) when he was buried 24 Jul 1847 aged 82 - so a birth year c1765. Richard Young was born 14 Jan 1765 and bapt.
12 Jul 1765 at St Andrew Enfield son of Alexander and Elizabeth Young.

I think Richard Young married Susannah James in 1784 - had quite a few children up to c1800. In the 1841 census there is a Richard Young in Chelsea bn c1770 with a much younger woman Ann Young aged 40. Found this marriage:

St Mary's  Bryanston Square 13 December 1837

Richard Young 'full age' widower and stationer of 7 York St. Chelsea.   Father: Alexander Young - Land M ? ?
Ann Simpson 'full age' spinster of 21 Quebec St. Father: Robert Simpson - ironmonger.

Both signed register
Witnesses: Francis Berry and Hepzibah Berry.

Hi claire

Very impressive results and thank you for your time spent on this research.

You have given me information that supports my lucky find of a connection to George and Richard.

When we get back to normality I can get some copies at my local archives.

Thanks Alberbury
