Huby Family
« on: Tuesday 25 September 12 20:19 BST (UK) »
I would love some background on my family. The surname is Huby.
My grandfather was Fred Huby from Water Lane, Eggborough (Whitley bridge) My grandmother was Laura Huby.
We are from the Whitley Bridge, pollington, Snaith area's in Yorkshire.
If there is anyone who knows the Huby family it would be a fantastic start.
Many thanks.
Huby

Hi,

My Grandfather George Ernest Huby (1908 to 1992) lived in Pollington all his life. I believe his father was also named George Huby. My own father was born in Pollington and I grew up in Goole just up the road.

Unfortunately I don't know too much about that side of the family tree but I am sure my Dad has mentioned an "Uncle Fred" which might be the Fred Huby that you mentioned. It's certainly the right area and the period seems right too.

I will have to ask my Dad for more information.

I'd appreciate any information you have collected as it may help me trace my own family tree.

Thanks,

Dan Huby

I asked my Dad and apparently it is the same Fred - my Granddad George Huby's brother. Apparently he built the house in Water Lane himself.

That makes us second cousins, Deborah. We share the same great granddad - George Huby b. 1873 (George, Percy and Fred's father).

Apparently the third brother Percy went to live in Wales.

It would be good to hear from you.

Welcome to rootschat, gypsygirl.

Unfortunately neither Dan nor Deborah appeared to have used these boards since 2012, so it is unlikely, though not impossible, that they will see your message.

However, if they do have the same email address they may respond, so fingers crossed.

I'm still here but I think this one was aimed at Deborah. Fred and Laura were my great aunt/uncle, but Deborah's grandparents.
