I don't know about the Roy bit, but Robert William Warrener (born Bermuda circa 1881) was the son of Henry Warrener and Margaret (Annie) Cooper. She was the daughter of my g-g-grandfather's sister Margaret Jones (stage name Jenny Mortimer). See http://www.bint-family.com/robina.htm

Robert William Warrener was born 14 January 1881 according to father Henry's army record

Thankyou Shaun J for all that info. I am doing the research for a friend who is the widow of Roy Warrener Junior, b Paddington 15/10/1924, they were m at Rochdale 1950 and lived most of their life at Moree.  Thanks,  Gwen

Henry Warrener married Annie Margaret Cooper at Gibraltar on 1 November 1876. He was serving there with the Royal Artillery and we think that Annie had followed him to Gibraltar from London.  They married without regimental leave, and she was not brought on to the army establishment until 1 August 1889 by which time they had 5 children.

It could be that Roy/Robert's birthdate was mistranscribed by the army clerk but it is listed in both the regimental birth index and the army "chaplains" birth list index as occurring in 1881.

Annie Cooper was born in Dunolly, Ballarat, Victoria in 1856 and came to England with her parents in 1861.  She was put into lodgings in London and went to school there while her parents and siblings (all performers) toured the country.

It is assumed that she met Henry Warrener when he was on home service with the Royal Artillery 1871-74. He was posted to Gibraltar in October 1874. Annie's mother died in London in December 1874 leaving her an orphan.

Hi. Interesting reading. My mums dad is Robert Warrener. His parents had him in Bermuda. We know very little to nothing about him for his family. Interesting why my Aunty Mona was looking as her husband had a different father by the last name Macmasters. No blood relation. Born out of wedlock.
