Thanks all for the replies. The information that I have for William Cox comes from his son John Cox's death certificate. It states that William Cox was a blacksmith and was married to a Mary Ann? (another source has her as Mary Ann Fuige) John Cox was born in Herefordshire England, married Julia Toundrer (cant quite make out the  spelling however another sauce has her name as Julia Tondra). They were married in Mayo County Ireland about 1820. John Cox arrived in Australia in 1827 aboard the Champion. He was a soldier. As John Cox was born in Herfordshire England I thought that perhaps there may be a record of Blacksmiths in that area around 1793 or of the marriage of William Cox. 'tamworth'

Are you sure about these dates?

John Cox married 1820 - so he would likely have been the one born c1793?
Making him 27 at marriage.

His father must have been born much earlier?

You are right KGarrad. I put in the wrong DOB for William Cox  :-[ I don't have his DOB, c1793 is indeed the DOB of John Cox, I wish I did. My apologies. 'tamworth'

Hi - do you know if he was related to John Henry Cox. Born 1880, died 1923 and buried in Lugwardine?

Thanks for your reply. The John Henry Cox i am interested in is the one born in Burton on Trent in 1880. I'm new to this site etc, did you find this from subscribing to GRO? I'd like to be able to look into his family in more detail (he was my great-grandfather)
