Kirkham Family
« on: Thursday 27 September 12 14:17 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to locate information on the Kirkham family.
So far I have found William born Bath 1811, possibly married Sarah?
Children - William 1834, Agnes 1843, Francis 1850.
As far as I know Francis moved to the Durham/Sunderland area.
If anyone could confirm or expand on what I have so far it would be great
Many thanks in advance
 :)

Hello

This could be the family in 1851 : -

Family in 1851 - HO107 piece 1940 folio 351 page 6

10 Pulteney St Bathwick – William 42 born Bath a lodging house keeper, wife Sarah 36  & children William 17, Agnes 8 and Francis 1 together with servants & visitors.

If this is the right family I will see if I can track them further.

best wishes

Maria  :)

Hello again,

This is what I have so far: -

Family in 1851 - HO107 piece 1940 folio 351 page 6

10 Pulteney St Bathwick – William 42 born Bath a lodging house keeper, wife Sarah 36  & children together with servants & visitors.

Possible for eldest son William in 1861: - RG09 piece 71 folio 103 page 5
He is a clerk in a music instrument manufactory with wife Therese born 1833 in Bath.

In same household are his parents & additional children – looks like twins Austin & Janet aged 7 & born Bath.

Best wishes

Maria  :)

Hi
Many thanks, this looks like the right family. Francis is my 'other half's' 2x gt grandad and moved to Durham where he married a local girl and had 5 children.
If you come across any further information it would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Allison

Was Francis's full name Francis Xavier?

There is a possible marriage in Sunderland in 1877 to a Sarah J Emmerson - Dec qtr 1877 vol 10a page 691.

Best wishes

Hi Maria
Many thanks for all the information  :)
Francis (born 1850 Bath) did marry Sarah J Emmerson, they went on to have Francis R Dec 1/4 1878, Joseph Sept 1/4 1880, Henry 10/07/1885, Emily June 1/4 1887 and Robert Emmerson Dec 1/4 1889.
Henry married Amelia Hunter in 1911 -  I have also got their children as thats the line I'm going down.
Now looking at 'bulking out' information prior to the move to Durham/Sunderland
Thanks again
Allison

Bath Chronicle 30th September 1875
The Parliamentary Registration
William Kirkham, who was on the list for No 11, North Parade, was objected to by Mr Hayward (Conservatives), on the ground that he lived in London. The claimant said that he  was an auctioneer, upholsterer, and lodging-house keeper. His wife and family resided in London, and he spent some of his time there. He was in Bath about once a month, and reserved to himself apartments in his house on the parade.  Vote Retained.
