Moses Wooster marriage.
« on: Saturday 29 September 12 16:24 BST (UK) »
Moses & Elizabeth Wooster baptised their daughter,  Mary Wooster in 1765 @ St.Mary the Virgin, Wendover, Bucks.

Their son Timothy Worcester, was baptised in 1761 in Wendover.

Wooster Burials.  Moses-1787, Elizabeth 1792(Widow), Elizabeth 1795, Elizabeth 1796, Elenor 1797.   No ages given.

There is also another Moses Wooster, who marries Eleanor Mead in Apr. 1777 @ Wendover, who also have a son Timothy in Oct. 1777.

Does anyone have anyone have 'my'  Moses Wooster in their tree, or his marriage to Elizabeth.

Thanks.

Steve. :)

Hi Steve

Is Moses (of Moses and Eleanor) the son of Moses and Elizabeth, (both appear to be farmers)? I ask this because lack of info lead me to the dark area of the Anc. trees:

They have Moses Wooster & Elizabeth Kitson, 11 Dec 1758, Little Marlow, mar. However, some also have children Elizabeth and Moses born prior to the marriage. Moses' birth ranges from 1749-1757.

Popular BI:
17 Sep 1830 Moses Wooster aged 50, West Wycombe, St Lawrence, bur. Unsure if he is yours.
20 Dec 1831 Moses Wooster aged 67, Cholesbury, St Lawrence, bur. Unsure if he is yours.
12 May 1833 Timothy Wooster aged 74, Wendover, St Mary the Virgin, bur. This ties in your dates and the will below.

If you haven't seen Timothy's will, this may be of use.

Hope there is a snippet or two.

Thanks Geoff.  :)

I have just seen the Mitchel Family tree(online), and that suggests Moses Wooster(snr.), married Elizabeth Kitson, @ Little Marlow in 1755.  And their son Moses Wooster(jnr.), was born c1749 @ West Wycombe. ??? ???(This date worries me).
It also suggests both Moses Woosters dying in the same year, 1787. (Still worrying).

Plus, Ann 1759, Timothy 1761 and MARY 1765.  All baptised @ Wendover.

BUT.....what is also interesting, in the link you put on here, they have John WOOSTER(son of Timothy & Elizabeth(nee.Senior)), marrying Ann IVES(b1787. Gt.Missenden, daughter of James Ives & Mary (nee.WOOSTER)). in 1809 @ Great Missenden, Bucks.

This would suggest Ann IVES & John WOOSTER are 1st cousins. ???

James Ives & Mary(Wooster),  are my 4th Gt.Grandparents. ;)

I think I need a strong cup of tea. ;D

Thanks Trish, I think. ;D

Hawridge, Bucks for the Wooster & Norwood marriage. ;)

Poll books suggest, that Moses Wooster jnr. was in Wendover in 1784.(Owner/occupier).  And the 1798 Land Tax book, shows the other Moses Wooster in Hawridge.(Occupier).

Plus, in 1841/1851 & 1861. a Moses Wooster shows as b1788, West Wycombe.  Smith/Blacksmith.  Living in Easton St. Chipping Wycombe.

Too many Moses spoil the broth. ::) ;D

Hi Steve

I would tend to bypass the tea go straight for the the bottle ;D

I had trouble getting my head around the number of Moses, I started looking at 2nd marriage possibilities.

The Hawridge marriage that Trish found is confirmed in the PR's that he is indeed a widower. Maybe all Moses called one of their male children Moses, irrespective of 1st or 2nd marriage.

The early Moses that Trish noted, may be Timothy's grandfather, though it would need checking out. They didn't marry in Wendover according to the PR's. The trees have his son b. 1731 in West Wycombe, may be a pointer.

I can't find a marriage for Timothy and Elizabeth Senior in the Wendover PR's, though Family Search has it in 1785.
Also: 7 Dec 1790 Timothy Wooster & Ann Tucker, High Wycombe, mar.

There are a number of Woosters' in High Wycombe, where, Aaron appears to be as popular as Moses in other areas.

There are one or two variants - Worster, Worcester that I haven't dared venture into yet  ::)

I forgot to add this.

Wendover PR:
10 Sep 1778 Tho. Aldridge of Ellesborough, b., & Elizabeth Wooster, sp., of W., mar. Possibly Timothy's Sister.

Timothy Wooster married Elizabeth Senior @ Wendover. 23 Apr 1785. by Licence.  Witnesses - John & Mary Senior.

How's that for Senior Service. ::) ;D ;D

And don't forget the saucy ones, called Worcester. ;)

I think a BucksFHS search request, is coming soon from me. :)

Thanks Geoff, and Trish, apologies for the cheesy quips. ;D

Theses are the 14 baptisms for Moses Worster/Wooster,  in Bucks.    Courtesy of BuckFHS.  (See link).

The burial in Wendover, ties up with 1757 baptism @ Little Marlow, to Moses & Elizabeth Worster.

I'll ask BucksFHS for a burial search now. ;)
