ADD: The Film 'The Shakedown' was made in 1959, and the Song 'Shakedown', sung by Kathy Kirby, was released in 1960. She appears in the Film, pre Her 1960s makeover.

Contrary to what some people think, it was Sheila Buxton who sang in the film 'The Shakedown'

I should have taken note of the Film Credits, as "The Shakedown" was actually shown on Talking Pictures TV, a couple of Nights ago

Not Kathy Kirby.  She always had longish hair flicked up at the ends and was very well known, so we oldies would have recognised her photograph.

And it isn't Sheila Buxton either - although she's not been suggested so far.  She was a Mancunian and was the singer with the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra.  I knew the wife of the (at the time very famous) TV presenter she had an affair with, she having met him when he was the presenter of TV shows she was in.  His wife threw a brick through the TV screen one day when she saw them together on TV.  That was in 1959/60.

I wasn't suggesting Sheila Buxton was the mystery girl, just that she played the singer in 'The Shakedown' not Kathy Kirby, or so the above seems to confirm.

You can find the credits for the film on the internet, Kathy not mentioned there

This is Marianne Faithful - seems right age, occupation and location but who knows ...

Marianne Faithfull always had long hair.  She still has even now.  Also she wasn't born until 1946, so was only 14 in 1960.  She used to hang around with The Rolling Stones andshe released a record in 1964 that made her more famous.  That and the drug busts with the Stones I suppose.
