My mother in law recently passed away, she was Audrey Bower Woodward of westwoodside, birth registered gainsborough. If you have any clues or information as to her family connections i would be thrilled to hear from you.

Hello 30000donna -- you have dug up a very old thread! If you write one more message you will be able to use the private messaging system here to send a message directly to the various possible rellies in the thread. CatOne has been on the site this year, so she may come along and see your message.

Meanwhile ... you can use http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl to search for info.
We find that your mum's parents were Bower-Woodward (or just Woodward -- her birth was registered both ways, as is usual for double-barrelled surnames) and Lawrence:

John H B Woodward married Hilda M Lawrence in Gainsborough district in 1926.

John Henry B Woodward's birth was registered in Thorne district in 1903.

His parents were Henry Bower WOODWARD and Lucilla Hunt who married in Thorne district in 1899.

The 1901 census shows Henry Bower Woodward born abt 1879 in Everton, Notts
with wife Lucilla B Woodward and daughter Harriet A B Woodward.

So that puts you in CatOne's tree:

CatOne / 3000donna's kids?
Linda May Marland / 3000donna
Lucilla Margaret Marland / Audrey Bower Woodward
Frances May Bower Woodward / John Henry Bower Woodward
Henry Bower Woodward
(b. 1878 Everton, Notts m. Lucilla Hunt)
John Woodward Bower
(b. 1844 Mattersea, Notts m. Elizabeth Bingham)
William Bower
(m. Ann Woodward b. 1816 Leverton North, Notts)
Thomas Bower

Henry Bower Woodward and Lucilla Hunt were
- your great-grandparents
- CatOne's great-great-grandparents

Your grandfather John Henry Bower Woodward and
CatOne's great-grandmother Frances May Bower Woodward
were brother and sister.

Your mother Audrey Bower Woodward and
Cat One's grandmother Lucilla Margaret Marland
were first cousins

You and CatOne are second cousins once removed, I think. ;)

Oh my goodness -- I am merely the Janey-came-lately who came along when everybody else was asleep and did the arithmetic from what all the dedicated searchers had done in the past. ;)

(And I hope I got it right, at that!)

But you are of course quite welcome and I hope you and the rest here do get in touch. :)

I have just joined and realised I may be able to help - my grandad was George Woodward and we know he was a Bower Woodward but the Bower was dropped.  We are from Kent and my Grandad was originally from Lincolnshire - If this is what you want to know I can let you know all our history :)  Just let me know.
