Hi,

I have the Gwynedd Family History Society Memorial Inscriptions Book for Saint Cwyllog Church, Llangwyllog and there is no sign of William in it.

Perhaps the grave is unmarked.

Alan

Hi Anne-Elaine,

There are no "Rogersons" shown in the book at all.

Do you know his address in Llangwyllog or any other family detail that may help to trace the family and their final resting place?

Alan

The image from the Llangwyllog burial register gives William Rogerson's abode as Bethesda. There are also the following burials in Llangwyllog:
Mary Rogerson - Tangrisiau, Llangristiolus -21 Nov 1929 - 92 years
Mary Ann Rogerson - Cartref, Valley - 23 Jan 1942 - 71 years

'Cartref, Valley' is the term usually used for what was known as Valley Hospital

Hi Anne-Elaine,

Looking at the censuses, it seems that William was actually born in Dublin, Ireland.

His family were in Islington, London in 1851 (9 children - all born in Dublin apart from one born in Liverpool). He was an Elastic Fabric Merchant.

In 1861 he was in Hackney, London with 3 of his children described as a Retired Merchant. His wife Ann J appears to have died in London in 1862 (Free BMD).

In 1871 he (widower) is in Liverpool described as a Hatters Trimmings Seller.

A family tree on Ancestry suggests his parents were John Rogerson (1774) and Mary Anne Bell(1776) both born Dublin.

If you need more detailed information please let me know.

Alan
