Slater family Kinfauns, Perthshire

William Slater b. 1770 in Kinfauns, married before 1796  to Jean/Jane Mac Kellar/Kellior.  Their first child Janet was born in Ochiltree, Ayrshire and lists William as a soldier and from Perthshire. William and Jane move to Perth and he is listed as a weaver living there 1800-1803 when the family is back in Kinfauns where the next nine children are born.  William's father is  listed as William Slater (nothing further is known of him) siblings of William are: Margaret b. 1767, John b. 1775 and Alexander b 1779.  Possibly mother might be Margaret Lindsay?
Thanks for any suggestions or help...

Hi,

Found this thread googling for answers myself. As best as I have been able to ascertain from some patchy info on genealogy sites online (http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/m/a/s/James-Mathieson-Mason/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0070.html was definitely one of them):

Elspeth Slater was the daughter of William Slater & Jane McKellar (& a sibling of Janet?)
Elspeth married Robert Gardiner
Their daughter was Jane (Ann Hamilton) Gardiner (b1825 d1872), who married John Murrie (b1821 d1890). They had 8 Murrie children that I am aware of, but I've so far only tracked Bathea, who became Bathea Browning (my great great grandmother). William Slater would be my great x5 grandfather, I think.
