Tomlinson in Ireland
« on: Sunday 04 July 04 03:41 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on a Tomlinson that supposedly went to Ireland with William of Orange and fought in the battle of Boyne Water. He was supposed to have been stationed next at Athy in Queens Co, Ireland. He married and had three sons, Daniel who became a silversmith in Dublin, William who was in British army and never married and Francis my ancestor who was a blacksmith. Francis had one son Daniel who lived in Ballylinan, Queens Co. He had ten children and all but one came and stayed in U.S.My questions are, are there any military records that go back a far as William of Orange I would like to find out given name of first Tomlinson and where he came from in England. I would like to find decendents of Daniel from Dublin,he had a large family. I've pretty much exhausted the standard places known to me for look ups. Thanks for any help or hints, Alan

Hi,

Check out 'Burkes Peerage' website. There is some info on the site re
tracing ancesters back to the 'battle of the boyne'. Think the e address is
listed somewhere on Rootschat but you can always try google.

Good hunting.
