Trying to find Annie Jeannette Menzies. A mystery.
« on: Friday 12 October 12 07:58 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any further info on Annie Jeanette Menzies born about 1869?
Her husband
1911 census David Bertie Lyndsay Hopkins is listed as married but with his mother Harriett Hopkins living with him at Horley, Surrey. His probate has his death at 1925.
1901 census he is Member of royal navy crew On a ship in Malta
1891 Census before his marriage he is aboard a ship again in Portsmouth Harbour. So the census was April and he was married in September.

I have an extract of her marriage certificate

2 sept 1891 parish of St Marylebone in County of London -David bertie lyndsay Hopkins age 29 bachelor, assistant paymaster royal navy, residence Portsmouth,, father David Hopkins HMS Consul, Fernando Po West Africa married Annie Jeannette Menzies age 22 Spinster, residence 7 Devonshire place, St marylebone, father Archibald Menzies, Gentleman. Witness by G Menzies, N Menzies, R Webster, J Corkney.
Thanks for any help

Nick

I looked at the births in Melbourne for the Menzies listed in the 1891 Langham Hotel and the father is listed as Archbald. So that is a match.

Thanks... Annie didn't show up in the victorian, australia births with her siblings even though it says born in Melbourne in the England census and showing siblings that match staying at the hotel..

But that is her for sure...

Now to track down what became of her children... That is the hard part.
