I am trying to find ancestors of William Mears born in Sibson around 1818. He married Mary Ann Robinson  in 1847 in Peterborough, Northamptonshire. One of their children was Edward Mears who migrated out here to Australia in 1880.
Any information re the ancestors of William would be appreciated.

Normally, I think you need a subscription to see the trees on Ancestry but there is a new site, which I am told gives free access. I have not looked at it because you have to register and I am already on Ancestry.

Online trees show him as the son of Thomas and Mary. I take online trees with large pinches of salt. Sibson-cum-Stibbington parish register isn't online or on the BVRI, but a transcript is available from Hunts FHS.

There's a burial of a Thomas Mears age 28 in Sibson on 22 Jul 1818, but there's no marriage of a Thomas Mears in Hunts on Hunts Marriage Index

Sibson is just on the Hunts side of the county boundary with Northamptonshire, which is where they possibly married. You need a look up in the Northants Marriage Index on the Northants board to see if they marrie in that county.

But first you need to find William's baptism to confirm his parents were Thomas and Mary

Thank you for that info much appreciated.My GGF is Edward. At the moment I have come to a stop with his parents William & Mary. I was heading down another line which has proved to be wrong, so I am now trying to establish Willliam's ancestral line.
