I actually meant father's occupation...

If you knew his father's name it would help your search, and certain occupations are listed in directories etc, which would help your search. probably not tinsmiths though...

No clues as to what part of Dublin city or county ?

Patrick Barnes was born in Dublin the city itself in 1813 !!!

dont know if you have any clues to religion for Patrick and his parents, but further Catholic parish records for the city area are due to be added over the next few months on the IrishGenealogy website.

Patrick was a Roman Catholic - but was married by an Irish Presbyterian Reverand in Australia

have you found a father or mother's name ?

Less well off people often moved to different accommodation around in the city, and it might be possible to locate possible siblings of Patrick if they were baptised in another parish, where the details are online at the moment.

Looking for parents names - not so easy

Father was mentioned as a soldier

unfortunately the father's occupation will probably will not be of much help in RC records, as they dont generally include occupations. On the plus side, RC records usually have mother's maiden surname... although with early records like this you never know. They can be very sparse.

just one of them could be enough!

Keep an eye on the IrishGenealogy website for the updates.
