I actually meant father's occupation...

If you knew his father's name it would help your search, and certain occupations are listed in directories etc, which would help your search. probably not tinsmiths though...

No clues as to what part of Dublin city or county ?

unfortunately not,

the sources I have are mainly street and trade directories. So nothing military ...

I am not very familiar with military records, but I suspect the Find My Past and/or Ancestry websites would be the first to try. For original records the place to try would probably be the National Archives in Kew (London)  - www.nationalarchives.gov.uk   Some of their records can be either viewed online or copies ordered (for a charge).

According to Patrick's Death Certificate there is only four children mentioned.

How do I send all the info i have to you offline if possible - I am new to this website and not sure of the procedures.
