Hi,
Just joined Rootschat and saw this posting re the Sturgeon family in Dumfries Scotland.
My grandfather William was a brother of David Sturgeon and I am also descended from William Sturgeon and Sarah McGauchie. I have a lot of info etc. on my line back for several generations which I would be happy to share with you and any other family member.

Bill

Hello David & Margaret,

Cant help with Sarah McGauchie but Davids Father, William and his line back for 2 or 3 hundred years I have quite a lot of info. William of course is my G-Grandfather he was a steeple jack here in Dumfries, the family can be traced here from the 1500's.

Hi,
Just checked my index and I found that Sarah died in Dumfries on 28 Jan 1922 and was buried in St. Michaels cemetery on 30 Jan 1922.Section R Plot 130 St. Michaels Cemetery,Dumfries.
She was born in Dumfries abt. 1861 and was the daughter of Jane McGauchie(ms Colvin) who was born in Dunscore, a village about 10 miles north of Dumfries, abt 1827 and died in 1880's. Father was William McGauchie. I have a copy of their wedding cert..

Hi
I can put you in touch with two relatives, one on email and one who isn't, both living in Dumfriesshire.  If you contact me off list I will give you the details.

My late mothers maiden name was Jane Thomson Sawers Sturgeon (Jean) Her father was David Sturgeon. Her brothers were David, John and Bill, her sister was Sarah (sadie)
She also had a half sister, Terry I think.
