Sorry no.

But I have found the librarians at the local (to Stoke-on-trent) family history library to be very helpful in looking up streets in other census years. Might be worth a shot.

Many thanks to those who have replied, but my problem is that in 1881,Henry Durber and his Family are living at 9 Birch St.However there is no sign of them in any of the indices for 1891. I have tried all the Family members from 1881,but to no avail.

Limited help no doubt, but in 1871 Birch Street was in Township of Hanley,Municipal Borough of Hanley,Municipal Ward of East Ward,Parliamentry Borough of Stoke on Trent,Town of Hanley, and Ecclesiastical District of Northwood. In  same enumeration district as : Regent St,Vincent St,Pace St,Botany Bay,Keelings Lane from Brick Street Northwood Colliery, East side Bucknall Rd to River Trent.

You could try looking for Charles Alfieri in the 1891 census. He was in the 1881 aged 53, just a few houses down from no 9 but address Northwood Academy. He was also there in 1871 aged 44, so I reckon there must be a chance that he would still be there in 1901 - then you could get the details of parish etc from that entry.

BTW Did you know that Henry and Sarah A were boarding at 27 Vincent St in 1871? Let me know if you want the entry, not that it will tell you anything extra.

I have tried looking for several neighbours of Henry Durber from 1881,without success,it appears this will be a tough nut to crack.

he was there until 1894.

Hi wr,
I have found Birch St, Hanley, Northwood, Stoke on Trent in District 18 of the Hanley ennumerations.
Number 9 is found at RG12/2169/Folio 3 Page 3.
Unfortunately, your family isn't there. The house is occupied by the Herbert Hughes Family.
Sorry about that but I'll keep my eye open for them.
Regards,
India

I can now upate everybody on the matter, following some painstaking trawling through the Hanley census Records. The last reply was not far wide of the mark, for on Page 13 I found Henry Durber living with his children,Joseph and Edna,at 34 Keelings Lane, the home of his widowed sister Mary Thomas.I should like to take this oppurtunity of thanking all those who responded to my problem. It is all very well if the Family Group you are searching for, live in their own particular household.but they seem to ignore those who are in Lodgings etc.
