Although I have shown this as completed I thought I would let you know I have been to the ERO today and checked on a baptism for this child

She was baptised as Elizabeth Ellen Gwendoline Cartwright daughter of John and Elizabeth Rosanne/ Roseanne Cartwright at Writtle parish church on 24/04/1887, as I showed earlier, 1911 shows they were married 26 years which would or should show a marriage  circa 1885, which I wasn't able to find in my short time spent there

My grandfather was Gwendoline Cartwright's brother Victor, and I have been tracing his family tree back a fair way to about 1800.

Today I saw your correspondence from a long time ago about Gwendoline, and was wondering whether you managed to trace her ancestry a long way back in the end?

I have gone back as far as John R Cartwright born 1819  and Esther born 1825, their son John was born 1858 in Stapleford Abbotts

That is how far I am at the moment

I had to delve back to the distant past to recall this info,

I've got Gwendoline's & Victor's mother as Elizabeth Rose Anna Byford, and Elizabeth's father as Philip Byford, and Elizabeth's mother as Elizabeth Ellen Root.

Also, I've got Philip's father as William Byford, and Elizabeth Ellen's father as Joseph Root.

I've got quite a lot of other information, although when I go back further than this the full verification of the information gets more difficult. 

Do you mind me asking what relation you are to Gwendoline?

Thanks for that.  I'll fill the more recent information into my ancestry tree.

In your friend's direct line I've got Esther as Esther Hirons ( / Esther Irons).

I'm not sure if you are interested, but I've got further direct line (from Gwendoline) info going further back in time from that I've already given you, although for most of this I am fairly sure rather than 100% sure.  I've also got copies of various birth / death / marriage certificates.

I gather you are not interested in siblings of the direct line.
