"Refused To Tell" ????
« on: Monday 22 October 12 16:10 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Thought this was interesting/peculiar and something I have never ever seen before ?

Came across Arizona death information on family search - under Father's Name "Refused to Tell" and under Mother's Name:- Information Refused.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FLVJ-174

Makes the guy sound more intriguing. Anyone ever seen this written before ?

The informant seems to be a Superintendant, but it's not clear what he was a Superintendant of.  Maybe a workhouse, or something similar ?
RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

The only reason I could think of was that he was estranged from his family perhaps.  ??? There were many other members of his family alive and living in Oregon and he must have a headstone - found a listing for him on Find A Grave. Maybe  it was just that noone knew anything about him - just found the wording peculiar.

"Mohave County Farm."
Probably the county "Poor farm". Perhaps, he did not wish his relatives to know how far down in his luck he ended up in.

There is reference to it in a collection of early 1900's Arizona maps.
1384       2400   n.d.   Plat showing land under fence, County Poor Farm. 12 x 20 in.
