James and Jane BOORMAN (34 & 37) and sons William and Thomas (4 and 1 1/2)
came to Australia in 1841 on the "Moffatt" from Hurst, Sussex.

We could not find their marriage or their sons christenings on Family Search.

This looks like it could be young Thomas' birth registration on FreeBMD
Thomas Boorman September 1/4 1839 Ticehurst vol 7 page 430.

If all else fails then this will give his mother's maiden name or do you have her maiden name from the birth of a child in OZ?

Hello Alex & Jan

I found a marriage on the Sussex Marriage Index

Married at Goudhurst ,Kent
James Boorman,from Ticehurst,Sussex
Jane Watts from Goudhurst,Kent

7 April 1834.

Goudhurst is very close to the Sussex border.

I might be an idea to ask a Moderater to move this thread to the Kent Board. Its possible the Boys were Baptised at Goudhurst.

Kind Regards

omega from Sussex :)

Thanks so much for the replies - didn't think of looking on FreeBMD for births !
Should we post on the Kent Board ?

Thanks again,
Alex and Jan
