look up request please for a burial, Lincs
« on: Saturday 27 October 12 11:15 BST (UK) »
Hi
Have just received a death cert for my grandmother, she died in Rauceby Hostpital, Sleaford, Lincolnshire in 1936
at the age of 60.
Is it possible to find where she was buried, I have tried searching but get nowhere.
Her name was Annie Morley ( nee Hoff or Hough) born in Gosport hampshire in about 1877.
Fathers name was George Hoff/Hough there are 2 spellings for this name as he seems to have used both surnames.
I Know that she lived in Ropsley in 1915/16 as her husband ( Harrry Morley) was killed in the first world war.
And that is where his service medals were sent.
Regards Colin

It appears that the hospital had burial grounds of its own. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rauceby_Hospital
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Hi Colin,

I don't know if this is any help but one of my husbands relatives died in Rauceby hospital in 1924(he was admitted for epileptic fits which wouldn't happen today) and he was buried in Grantham Cemetery. So it is possible that Annie might??? have been buried in Ropsley.
I have checked with Grantham Cemetery but Annie is not buried there.

Kathy

Thanks for the information.  i have got a nbi cd and there is nothing on that but it may not be complete anyway.
She could be buried at ropsley as i have not managed to check yet. I have looked in the church yard but i do not think she would have had a grave stone due to the cost all those years ago.
There is cemetery at rauceby but it is overgrown and only about 8 headstones left. I have also applied to lincolnshire archive for permission to access the hospital records for her.

Hi Colin,
Annie isn't buried at Ropsley.

She also doesn't appear to be buried in Sleaford cemetery.

(Though do double-check, because my eye test is over-due!  :) )

Hi Pam
Thanks for this information i will have a longer browse over the week end.
I seem to be drawing a blank at finding details of her, lets hope the medical records form rauceby may have some details that will help.
I have been to Rauceby Hospital Cemetery but nothing there appart from  a few headstones. I may be barking up the wrong tree. My mother ,when she was alive always told me that Annie Morley ( nee Hoff or Hough) was in a sanitorium in Bourne in Lincolnshire, why I do not know but in 1914-15 she lost her husband and his brother, then in 1919 she had a daughter ( who the father was ?) then she died at a very young age so that would be a lot to cope with, and no family credit then!
I do know she lived in ropsley in 1915 as her Husbands medals and personal things were sent to her, after he was killed in France.

Hello Colin, just read your old post.

Did you ever find any information on Annie as I might be able to help?

Regards

Phill

Hi Phill
I did get some information but it might be incorrect as the dates do not match. I have had no more luck with any more information.
