Yes, Sophia was a Widow in 1861 living with son William.  Sophia Died 1873 aged 74.

I have seen spellings of DRUIT

I was looking at the census -as there is quite an age difference between Sophia and John I wondered if maybe Sophia was 2nd wife ?? Are you certain you have correct y.o.b. for John and Sophia as they differ on 1851 census?

There is a 6 year gap between Sarah and William -so wondered if Sarah maybe had a different mother??
Sarah's baptism would confirm/deny this.

Some good points there.  I will see if I can find Sarah's baptism as you suggest,  and another possible Marriage for her Father John.  2nd Marriage does seem possible now you mention it

Sarah married a  Charles AUSTIF  / Anstiss ..   (variations again).
in 1857 in Parish Church of St Luke's, Chelsea
both full age

I can only find a baptism for William - 2 jun 1833- then there is Sarah on census

Apologies, not making myself clear

I have only found two children for John and Sophia  :

1)  Sarah   

2)  William

William and wife Matilda (nee  Russen)
had 6 children and two of their daughters lived in Hounslow in later years.
Which makes me think Sophia had relatives still living there in 1841 and possibly where she was married.

I will see if I can find a baptism for Sarah and 1st Marriage for her Father.

1841 - 1871 they are living in Hammersmith.  Their first ' known child, Sarah was born c1826 in Hammersmith.  So assume they married in Hammersmith, unless married in Sophia's birthplace, Hounslow? 

Two of their daughters lived in Hounslow in later years.
