Thanks.  Came across the following.  May be of help to someone or create more confusion.  british-history.ac.uk/Vch/yorks/north/Vol1/pp87-97.
It appears that the manor of Dalton Michael was sold to Francis Hutchinson about 1788, at which point the hall was converted to a farmhouse.  Having inherited it William the eldest son mortgaged it  and the mortgagees forclosed.

Still confused about Francis date of birth 1740 or 1755 and his parentage -    Marilyn

Ann - daughter of William Hutchinson is certainly the one married to 'Hamilton'.  As previously stated, I am descended from Newby Hutchinson and I have been sorting out my DNA matches and find that I have several to Ann Hamilton's descendants so I guess that proves it.
