WEST & MATHEWS in Queensland?

Emily Elizabeth Mathews married a Mr West and they were living in Queensland when she died in 1922 aged 42.
Emily Mathews was born in Sandwich Kent in 1880

I have not been able to find out any details for Mr West other than they had a son Ernest West born 1914 place unknown, he died 1922 aged 8 years.

My thoughts include - were Mother and son involved in an accident?

I have look through the Australian Newspaper Archives, but have not yet found any BMD´s etc for this West Family.

Can anyone help me find out more?

6th August 1914.
Queensland.

In March 1922 a terrible drowning accident at Burleigh Heads, Mrs Ernest West and her two sons 8 & 6.

Do you know if Ernest West (Father) was born in Queensland? if not when he and Emily Mathews emigrated and arrived in Australia.

Yes William John was born 1 Jul 1877 in Sandwich Kent so must have been 84 years old in 1961 when he died?
