1871 look up please-Latter

Good morning, I wonder if sks could possibly look for the following on the 1871 census?

Thomas LATTER born 1850 Rotherfield, Sussex.

I have Thomas on the 1861 census in Uckfield union workhouse( listed under initials) but I can't find him in 1871?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do you have any further information about him?

Going back to the old days and looking in a book I can see a clutch of Latters in Rotherfield in 1851 but no Thomas of the right age.

Hi KGarrad,

Thomas was actually baptised as Thomas Latter Carpenter in 1850 at Rotherfield, Margaret carpenter was the mother and she later married John Latter.

Thomas appears as Carpenter on the 1851 census aged 10 months, together with Margaret in Rotherfield.

Both of Thomas's parents die before the 1861 census and both Thomas and his brother James appear on the 1861 census in Uckfield workhouse.

I'm still not seeing Thomas - even on 1861?

The ref no for 61 census is Uckfield union workhouse RG9 576 43 20

Both Thomas and his brother James are listed under there initials, ie T.L & J.L
