SIT: Surname Tables
« on: Saturday 10 November 12 19:11 GMT (UK) »
When I go to the surname tables and find a name in a county I am interested in I am unable to PM a user name. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Ed :)

If you're looking at the list of people researching your chosen surname, you should be seeing a square with a baby face in it before each username.  Click on the little face - not the name - and the user's profile comes up.  Send your PM from there as usual.

Hope this helps,
Carol

Thanks Carol

No little face. When I go to advance search for a surname I get all the usernames researching a particular surname and the location they are interested in. When I select a particular user name what I get is a list of user names that they are researching.

<<<< The little face is the same one that's shown to the left of this post, under my username and next to the green scroll.  If you can see it here, but not on the surname tables, then I'm as puzzled as you ???

I can only suggest that you PM BerlinBob as he runs the surname board.

Carol

I knew what face you were refering to. No little face associated with either quick search or advanced search. Used to be that when you clicked on user name a screen would would pop up giving you user name history - ie # posts, whether or not they were on line and if not when they were last on line etc.

Isn't the little face symbol - - next to the username of the person, as in the screen shot below?

I did find it slightly confusing when this change was made, because when you click on a person's name elsewhere on the forum it goes directly to their profile.

Now the face is there. Previously the user name was in the colour purple with no face but now it is in blue.No idea why the colour changed but the baby face is there hopefully no problems making contact.

Alexander - thanks for the screen shot, that's exactly what I was trying to explain!  (Must learn how to do screen shots ::))

Ed - so glad it's working for you now :D

Hi

When you hover with the cursor over the 'face' you get a tooltip saying "View Forum Profile".

After reading this topic, I've added a tooltip to the name-link, too :)

See the help page also: http://surname.rootschat.com/sit-help.php?show=gi#gi

regards,
Bob
