If you google the men, you can find more information.

It looks as though there may have been no children from the marriage with Katherine. Edmund was married previously and Ronald was the son of the first marriage.

I think you would need to search a bit more to sort out the information.

Good luck  :)

There is a Lechmere family whose home is Severn End, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire.

Sir Ronald Lechmere was Governer of Hanley Castle Grammar School where I  met him and his wife when a pupil there. There was also mention of a Berwick Lechmere, I think think he was the son.

Hi Mike...

Just done a "Google" Sir Edmund Arthur Lechmere and...WOW...What a result...

Confirms the "Seven End" connection...

Even more WOWS....Records go back to 1173...How about that????...

Still reading the Information but it looks like an Ancestor of mine had Violin lessons from Edward Elgar!!!!!!
Fees for the lesson was 5 shillings and a glass of sherry !!!

Loads more to Research..But I do appreciate the Seven End Connection...Confirms the connection.

Brian.

On a pesonal note Lady Lechmere invited the "end of term" art group to go and paint at Severn End, she came out from the house and said, "I know schoolboys like gooseberries please go down to the garden and pick some."

Both Lord and Lady Lechmere were very down to earth and always visited the school on Founders Day and made a point of speaking to the boys.

I have just made a post on Who on here is long enough in the tooth.....and it got me thinking about all those years ago in March 2005 when I joined Rootschat.

Back then I was searching for information about my Carey family who set sail from Gravesend, 4 July 1863  aboard the ship " Lancashire Witch" arriving in the Port of Lyttelton, New Zealand  on the 13th October 1863.

My 2nd great aunt, Emily Samuels nee Carey and husband Edward, gave birth to my 1st cousin twice removed, Alice Samuels in 1866 in Christchurch NZ. Alice married Sir Edmund Arthur Lechmere from Severn End, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire in 1885.

Alice and Sir Edmund 's son Sir Ronald Berwick Hungerford Lechmere, my 2nd cousin once removed. married Constance Marguerite Long, however their son, Sir Berwick Hungerford Lechmere (my 3rd cousin) did not have any children.

Brian, as Heywood pointed out, your line is connected through Sir Edmund's 2nd marriage to Katherine Wright, who he married after my cousin Alice's death.

Mike, it was so good to read your posts about Sir Ronald and his wife, albiet all these years later - just wonderful!!! Thank you.

Margaret
