Certainly isn't one I've ever come across - but 'Arms' sounds a bit more likely than 'Arnes' doesn't it?  Shall have to google it's origins :)
RATCLIFFE, BARLOW, BERESFORD, BLOOR, BYATT, DAKIN, KENT, LEES, MORTON, NORCLIFFE, OAKS, OSBORNE, PARKS, RICHARDSON, ROBINSON, SORTON, WETTON, WARRINGTON, WATTS, WOOD, WOLVERSCROFT (all from the Staffordshire Moorlands) - and specific interest in anyone who at any time lived in or around the village of ALTON

  Hi

 James and Rebecca on marriage

 James Arms to Rebecca Wildman
 29 Dec 1818 Lidlington
and as Arms on the girls baptism.
The Arnes entry could have been transcribed from Armes possibly?

What you heard was right! Also in the same house in 1861 but shown as a separate household was James Arms head widower 65 Ag lab b Cranfield

Hannah Elizabeth Arms daughter of James and Rebecca Arms was baptised in Cranfield on 21 Feb 1824 (IGI). Hannah Elizabeth Arms married James Salisbury in the Sept quarter 1849 (FreeBMD)

Thank you David.
I just picked up the Salisbury/Arms marriage from the IGI for 1 July 1849, Cranfield and a baptism of Hannah to James Arms and Rebecca Wildman plus a marriage for them in 1818 and possibly even Rebecca's parents and siblings... all needs verifying of course... but think I'm on a roll!!    ;D
