DOBBINS, Thomas
« on: Sunday 18 November 12 23:40 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Dobbins, born county Cork, Ireland 1800s. Does anyone have any leads for me to trace Dobbins ancestry? This is my first post & I realize the question isn't very specific. Plan to add detail as I uncover more information.

You will need a lot more specific information before you can firmly establish  a connection to the correct family, however, Dobbins is an unusual name so based on that I looked at rootsireland website and came up with one Thomas Dobbins born in 1827 in Buttevant, north Cork to Thomas and Ann Dobbins. There is no guarantee this is your Thomas as the records are not complete for Cork. There is no Dobbins in the tithes suggesting they were town dwellers rather than farmers and there are 2 Dobbins in Griffith's Ellen in Tullylease and Michael in Kilberrihert.

As stated below There are two Dobbins families on Griffiths Valuation of 1852 (census substitute). Michael and Ellen.

and 5 in Cork in 1901 census and 6 in 1911.

On this site there are more listed, interestingly there are quite a few who are Dobbin without the 's' at the end. Also spellings such as Dobbyns, Dobin etc

The OP (brian6d) hasn't been online here since December 2014. If his email is still current, then he will receive a notification of your post, but may not reply.

Good luck!
