Lookup request-1861/71-Elizabeth Grubb
« on: Tuesday 31 May 05 11:39 BST (UK) »
Last heard of in Hellidon, Northants, when she gave birth to a baseborn son, Thomas Francis, in 1852. Elizabeth Grubb nee Aires, widow of James, was born in 1814 in Fenny Compton. She gave birth to six children by James, one or two of them later lived in Banbury and Fenny Compton.
I have not found a burial in Hellidon and was hoping that somebody may be able to find her somewhere in 1861 when she would be aged approx. 47, or 1871 for me. Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Al

Why are we not looking for the kids in 1861/1871, (with whom she is likely to be?)

You are right Pauline so here they are with approx. ages in 1861-
William 25, John 22, Oliver19, Ann17, Elizabeth 15, Edward14.
Banbury and Fenny Compton seemed to play a big part later on.

Cheers, Al

Edward Grubb  (Agers/Ayers? - Do. Mark) 14y, abt 1847  Heliden, Northamptonshire Lodger    BRICKMAKER

and last line of the census page says:

John Grubb, Lodger  left before the 9th April
(made it all the way to Piece 2242 Folio 28 by the looks of it)

So apart from a learning exercise in how to spell Hellidon, we haven't learned much.

Pauline

Do you know if Thomas Francis (b1852) survived to adulthood?

On the contrary Pauline I have learned plenty from your lookup. The results suggest to me that probably the mother had died as the family is scattered about, or had possibly remarried.
Your last inscription about John having left was from Fenny Compton Wharf so he probably hopped onto a passing barge and landed in Bishops Itchington, but I hadn't picked him up there!

I don't believe Thomas Francis Grubb survived for long but I could be wrong. I certainly havn't picked him up.

Although we still havn't found Elizabeth you have given much valuable information and I fully appreciate the time and effort you have put in and thank you very much-Al

Big raspberries to anyone who says that you don't learn anything by looking at family members eh?

My Pleasure.
