Yes, it would appear that Michael and his wife were (probably) childless.

Regarding the probate for Michael. Is it possible for someone to access this and obtain a copy? I ask, because I am not familiar with how your system works.

What are the names of James Lanigan's parents? Is it possible that his death is recorded under a spelling variation?

Good morning cupoflife. Thank you so much for your offer. Yes please, I would love to get the probate details.

The parents of James Lanigan were:

Michael Lanigan & Margaret nee Delahaunty (or Delahunty). James was born in 1861 in Kilkenny Ireland.

All we know is that he went from NZ to Australia to look for work around 1900. Absolutely nothing is known about him from that point on. His only grandchild is still alive in NZ and it would be wonderful to discover what happened to James.

PM sent with probate details. Unfortunately Michael LANIGAN's probate did not include a death certificate. Wife Annie was the beneficiary.

Hello, I have only just come across this reply! I wonder if you are still able to respond?

My husband's grandfather James LANIGAN was born in Piltown in 1861. Parents- Michael Lanigan & Margaret nee Delaunty(Delahanty?)

James emigrated to New Zealand as a young man along with his older brothers, Pierce, John & Thomas.

James married, fathered three children in New Zealand and sometime in the late 1890's-early 1900's, "skipped" to Australia. However I have not found any trace of him there and the likelihood is that he returned to Kilkenny? His brother Thomas is known to have returned there after a relatively short time in New Zealand.

Any information about James gratefully received.
