It is a mystery. The Annie who married ABD was definitely born 1851/52. She did have a sister Mary Greenhow born about 1848. I can only think that it was a confirmation cup. Were such things given as presents?
I have looked in other people's family trees and nowhere can I find a Greenhow. The only coincidental thing that I can find is that when they move to Flimby they are next door but one to a George Greenhow.

Greenhow is a Maryport surname.

I have a very good photo of Annie Greenhow Nicholson which I will post when I've figured how to do it!
