1841 census george haslam born 1775 & 1814
« on: Sunday 25 November 12 11:09 GMT (UK) »
hi

I am looking for the census record for 1841 for George Haslam born about 1775 in Crich. I have found out so far that its as follows
PRO H0107  civil parish Crich, Sub district Ripley, Reg District Belper.
I am also trying to find what maybe his son George Haslam born 1814 and baptised 1st Jan 1815 in Crich. on the 1841 census. I suspect they are both on the same census.
I cannot find it on Ancestry.

Also has anyone got a copy of George Haslam born 1815 wedding cert. to Ann Maycock born 1827 on 22 Oct 1848 in Duffield/ Belper.

thanks

Hello Steve...you will not get a marriage certificate for  the 1827 marriage...they were not issued until 1837...what you could get ,if you applied to the right plsce would be a copy of the marriage entry.....but it will not give you the sort of information that you get on a full blown Marraiage Certificate...........I applied for the same thing for an 1826 marriage..and all it contained apart from the marriage details.. was the groom's occupation.

I can tell you that GEORGE HASLAM was baptised Crich 02.05.1773 son of William..and was buried at Crich 01.04.1855 aged 82.......was living at Crich Carr when he died.

His son George was baptised Crich 01.01.1815 ( son of George and Mary nee Cowlishaw..not married till 27.08.1818)

Source..Crich PR's..part of my massive collection.(George,Mary and George junior are on the 1851..dad is a pauper..which might mean he was in the Workhouse in 1841 ??????)

Hello Steve......we may not get much further with George Haslam 1773..his baptism is shown as 02.05.1773 son of William..........which was very common in those days, but annoying nevertheless. Youcan often find the mother by looking for a very recent marriage.
In this case....there is no appropriate William Haslam, either born or married in Crich..and of course there is no reason why he should be!

The very nearest match..and indeed the only realistic one is..WILLIAM HASLAM married REBECCA YOUNG 17.04.1775 at Ashover..which may be one explanation of no mothers name..though it is usually the other way round, when a child is born before marriage..................but this possible remains just that..and does not really further the search..

Hi,

1841 Census previously posted I missed off John Crabtree aged 1 SORRY.

So the Mable Haslam listed as aged 3  (1841)  christened 9.7.1837 Crich
only Mother listed i.e. Harriott Haslam.

Harriott Haslam = John Crabtree September Q 1837 Belper 19 404.

1851 Census HO107/2145 F 221 Pg 48
Thurlow Booth, Crich, Derbys
Crabtree John Head M  37  Labourer    Aston, Derbys
"     Harriott    wife      39                   Crich
"     JOHN       son       11                   Crich Car
"    EMMA       dau      13                      "       "
"    Charles     son        9                      "
"   Sarah        dau        7                       "     "
"    Mary           "         5                       "     "

Think this makes Harriott Crabtree nee Haslam the Daughter of George & Mary Haslam:-

Harriott Haslam Born 1.3.1817 Christened 6.4.1817  Wesleyan, Cromford Circuit, dau of George & Mary Haslam.

ALSO
Hannah Haslam Born 18.10.1819 Christened 10.11.1819 Wesleyan, Cromford Circuit dau of George & Mary Haslam.

The above Bpt. from IGI.

Hi

yes i think that Harroit born 1.3.1817 is the daughter of George Haslam and Mary Barnes as the census record do tie in.

I have also found what maybe other an brother and 2 sisters of Hannah born 1817and George born 1814.

Eliza born 1821 Crich died 12 May 1850 (unmarried)
Ferdinand 1823 Crich Bapt 5 Jan 1823  - Married Hannah Wilson Born 1827. married 22 Oct 1845
Jane 1826 Crich.

Have some LDS microfilm numbers to go with these people that needs investigating.

KInd regards

Steve  :)

Hello Steve,

Was your Ferdinand buried 10th December 1877 Crich?  If so it is probably his will listed on the Derbyshire
County Record Site:-

www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/record_office/records/wills/search
Ferdinand  Halam  1878 Crich   cost to buy  £1.00

For some odd reason this site is often not working, but by doing a google search
Derbyshire Record Office + Wills  you can often get access.

Cannot find his death recorded on Free BMD, however he could be the one listed as Frederick Haslam age 55
Dec Q 1877 Belper.

i have his date of death i have as 5 Dec 1877.

His will was a double probate passed on 23 may and 8th Aug 1878 with an estate of under £100. He was a framework knitter.

Executors of the will where Robert Dawes (Framework knitter) Of Leas Mills Holloway near Cromford and Philip Kneebone (framework knitter) of Crich.

on 1871 Census his job was some sort of knitter.

i have also had problems with that site.

Steve.
