Grateful for date and hopefully restore/colour.
« on: Tuesday 27 November 12 15:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone   :)

Please can you do your “magic” for me again!

I have these two photos that were sent to me by my cousin, unfortunately he does not have the originals!

I would be very grateful if you could date them and hopefully restore and/or colour them.

The woman was born in 1862. She had five children:
Dau 1 1893
Dau 2 1894
Son 1 1896
Son 2 1898
Dau 3 1906

Thanks so much! I so appreciate your time and effort!

Deb

I hope I have done this correctly ..I had to read Prue's tutorial LOL

Regarding the smaller first photo the girl to the right is "unknown" and not one of the children mentioned in my first post.

Hiya Deb!

I think around 1905 or so for the one with the lady. The mount is definitely early 1900s, but the clothing is a bit ambiguous. The girls have the wide-brimmed hats popular toward the end of the decade, but the lady's hat is a bit earlier. Also the lady doesn't have the puffy blouse front that was de rigueur from about 1905 or so, but she may have been a bit behind as this photo doesn't seem to be a formal one.

Does she look like you, Deb? :D

And....can anyone read the talleyband on the youngest girl's hat? Something iona?

Cheers,
China

Thanks China :)

I have to rush out ...I'm late!!!!

Why would the youger girl have the boy's hat on ...was it a school uniform perhaps?

Supposedly the little girl is the dau born 1906 but that doesn't gel with how old the others look.

I'll be back asap

Thanks again everyone!

Well, the girls' hats would be right for 1910, 1911ish but then the lady would be woefully out of date. The bodice and the hat are just the wrong style. Ladies made an effort to be up-to-date for a photo if at all possible.

Well, maybe it wasn't possible..... :P :P :P :D
