Hi,
    I am trying to trace where my father James Barber was born.I know he was born 1882/3 and married Mary Wilson in Manchester on 11 Oct.1912.All my attempts so far have failed to solve where he was born .His Father was a William Barber and his Mother was Mary Jane Doyle.I was wondering if anyone out there would be able to point me in the right direction

Have you tried Scotlands people wrbsite. You will be able to find  his birth record and see where he was registered.

I tried the register offices in Glasgow and Manchester last time I was home and there was no"hits",so haven't a clue where to go from there(Ireland?maybe).I posted thinking maybe someone out there would have a Census/Voters roll entry that would give his place of birth :- and I could go from there.

William Barber age 18 born Ireland Par/Ward 651/640 Dist 2 Pge 21 No 7

640 = Dolphinton
651 = New Monkland.

Hi Falkyrn,
 thats where my problem is I have to find out where my Father James was born in order to progress from there.My sister is adamant my Fayher is English.As I was only two when he died I haven't a clue.Ireland is a definite possibility.
