BROADBRIDGE Of Stoke Newington area
« on: Wednesday 28 November 12 21:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello!

Calling all Broadbridge's .. Especially from the London area..

My 4th Great Grandmother was

Caroline Truth Taylor nee Broadbridge (b. cir 1818/19 - d. 21 Jun 1881)

Baptised at Old St Mary's Church Stoke Newington 31 Jan 1819

Died in Hackney

Married to George Frederick Taylor Parish Church, Parish of St. Luke (Old Street), December 3, 1839.

Her father was

Charles Broadbridge , Plumber & glazier, (b. 20 Dec 1787- D. 09 Jun 1862) both in Stoke Newington

Baptised - 13 Jan 1788, Old St Mary's in Stoke Newington.

Married twice.. First to Elizabeth Peppercorn and then to Mary Ann Shotter

His list of children were
Elizabeth Rebecca
Matilda
Augustus George
Caroline Truth
Charles Joshua
James Charles
Mary Ann
William Henry

His father allegedly was

John BRADBRIDGE, Glazier,  (b. 1748/49- d. ?)... Not sure if that was the original name and someone thought Broadbridge sounded nicer.. or if it was just mistranscribed by someone. Funny how a name can change in 1 generation..

Baptised Finsbury, London, Middlesex, St Luke. -24 Sep 1749

Married Elizabeth Crow 02 Feb 1786 in Finsbury, Probably also at St Lukes.

and married a "Mary" who was born about 1760 and died in 1785.

His list of children were

William
Caroline
Charles
Mary Ann
Elizabeth Crow
Joseph
Henry
John William
George
Rebekah
Elizabeth

His father allegedly

Henry Bradbridge (Broadbridge) born somewhere  Abt. 1716 married to "Elizabeth"

His living children were
Henry
Joseph
John

If any of these ring a bell or if you have knowledge of the name in general please let me know.

David

Hi David,
I'm looking for the father of Thomas Broadbridge, a plumber in the Stoke Newington area, born in 1792 and married to Ann Morris. Have you come across him?

I'm wondering if your Thomas was a brother or a cousin to my GGGG Grandfather Charles Broadbridge (1787-1862)? They were obviously the same family.. similar age, same profession and Broadbridge's in Stoke Newington. The "only" (Eleven!) siblings I know of for Charles were:

John , Elizabeth, William, George, Maryanne, Rebekeh, Joseph, Caroline, Henry and a half sibling, Elizabeth.

Charles' parents were John Broadbridge (1749 of Finsbury) and Elizabeth Crow for most of those kids and woman named "Mary" fir the 2nd Elizabeth

Then his father I have listed as a Henry BRADbridge & Elizabeth... Whether Bradbridge was the original spelling or just written based on sound I don't know...

David

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm just so confused over the children that belong to John Broadbridge and Elizabeth Savage...and John Broadbridge and Elizabeth Crow.
