Here is a newspaper article that says Isaac had no relatives in Australia. Only goes to show you can't believe all you read. That is if you are in Australia, of course, and Charles didn't die before his father.

Charles was my grandfather and his father was named Isaac Coates who live in the McIvor River area  Isaac Coates didn't marry but he had a son to a full blooded aboriginal women and adopt him.  I know about the news article

Hi! I know this thread is several years old but I just found it and wanted to respond. Isaac's son, Charles Sweetland Coates is my great Grandfather. Charles married Eva Byrung, and they had two daughters, Grace & Lillian. I am one of Lillian's 16 grandchildren.
