Census 1911 Galway DED Toberroe
« on: Thursday 06 December 12 11:56 GMT (UK) »

I have found the records for the townlands Keeloges East and West  Toberroe DED in the 1901 census but when I try to follow up some families in the 1911 census cannot
find any record - the DED Toberroe has disappeared and though I have found a listing that shows the changes in DED's from 1901 to 1911 there is nothing for Toberroe. Is it possible that a whole area is missing from the online 1911 Census?
would be grateful if anybody could shed some light on this.

Thanks so much for your reply - but I don't think so as there are only two families listed in that DED  in the 1911.
In Keeloges east in 1901 there were 43 households listed and I have looked for 3 or 4 of these families in the 1911 and they are not showing. I will have to check with the Archives and find out if there are missing townlands in the original forms or were they not microfilmed.

Hello

I'm also looking for the Keeloges East 1911 census records.  My family are the Quinns from the "Prospery / Prosberry area of Keeloges East - John Quinn (shown as Quin in the 1850's Griffiths primary valuation records), then to his son Martin Quinn in the 1870's (Martin married Catherine Conneran and they are in the 1901 census with 11 of their 13 children), then to Martin's son John Quinn who took over the property in the early 1900's.

Please let me know if anyone has been able to find the 1911 census. I'm happy to share info as well.

Kind regards

1911 Census Townland of Keelogue East DED Toberoe Glenamaddy PLU -42 households . National Archives said these were never filmed and ordered the original for me from the Four Courts I think - so got to see them in Bishop Street and took copies of House and Building returns  -these just give heads of households and number in family/ household. There are two Quinn families listed in Keelogue East No 6 Andrew Quinn with 11 persons in household and No 7  John Quinn with 4 persons in household.

Thank you for your quick reply Anne!

Just so I understand...the full 1911 Census WAS recorded for Keeloges East...but just not filmed?

I'm in the USA - but have some relatives/contacts in Dublin, so it's possible to view the originals or photocopies of the originals?

Thank you

Joe

The 1911 census for Keelogue East exists but was never microfilmed - You can get to see the originals by ordering them from the National Archives - as far as I remember they are stored in the Four Courts and take 48 hrs to be delivered to the Archives in Bishop Street.

It is possible to take photographs/ photocopies of the original returns.
