Hi,
I am looking for ancestors of Samuel Pugh who was baptised son of Thos Pugh June 10th 1800 in Llandewi'r Cwm Parish Church. The Library of Wales found a record in a nearby Church "Thomas Hugh (Pugh) son of Price Hugh (Pugh) 5 Feb 1763 Llanynys". This might be his parents, but I need more information. Can you help. please?
Llanynis, Llandewi'r Cwm, and Maesmynis parishes are very close to each other, a few miles south of Builth Wells.
Samuel Pugh b. 1800 married Martha Worthing in Llandewi'r Cwm in 1825. The 1841 Census has them living in Llanynis with children Thomas, Margaret, Anne, and Sarah. They had Margaret baptised in Llanynis on 31 January 1830, Richard baptised in Maesmynis in 1842, so they seem to have been in touch with all three Parishes.
FamilySearch has a record of Thomas Pugh baptised in Llanynis on 3 February 1732, and I have records of the Pugh family in Maesmynis going back to the 1600s
I am trying to piece my Pugh family together, and I am focussing on the Maesmynis area. They seem to have links with the Llanfillo, Llangorse, Llanfihangel Cwmdu and Talgarth Parishes as well. The 1861 Census has Thomas Pugh, one of the sons of Samuel and Martha Pugh, living in Courtloyven, Llanfillo, and my g.grandfather Samuel Pugh was living in the same house with his wife and 6 children in th 1871 Census. I have established an unbroken link to them living in Llanfihangel Nant Bran from 1712 on, thanks in large part to RootsChat, but my ggrandfather (another) Samuel Pugh moved to Llangorse from LlNB for some reason after he married Margaret Williams in 1824.
If any of this rings a bell, please let me know,
Meanwhile
